# Himiway EU: which model should you buy?

## Honest note on the range

Himiway is the heavy-duty end of this site: three of its 6 models carry a 960 Wh battery, payloads run to 181 kg, every model has suspension and nothing weighs under 35 kg. Only the D5 2.0 has a dual cadence-and-torque sensor (1 of 6); the Zebra, C5 Ultra and A7 Pro use a torque sensor and the Big Dog and Escape Pro a cadence sensor. The Zebra is sold in two sensor variants. The A7 Pro is the one mid-drive, at 130 Nm the most torque of any Himiway, though Cyrusher's Trident and Quest reach 160 Nm. Nothing is under £1,599, and two of the six were out of stock at our last check.

## UK road legality

To be ridden as an ordinary bicycle on a public road or cycle path in Great Britain, an eBike must meet the Electrically Assisted Pedal Cycle (EAPC) rules: working pedals, a maximum continuous rated motor output of 250 W, and no motor propulsion above 15.5 mph (25 km/h). A throttle, if fitted, can need separate type-approval. This is Great Britain guidance; Northern Ireland publishes separate rules not covered here.

Every current Himiway we track publishes a 250 W continuous rating and a 25 km/h cut-off — manufacturer figures, not independently tested, and only two of the requirements. Himiway's specification for the D5 Zebra lists a half-twist throttle, which needs separate type-approval to be road-legal in the UK. Confirm the exact UK configuration before assuming any model is road-legal as-is.
