Torque Sensor vs Cadence Sensor Explained
A pedal sensor tells the controller when and how you are pedalling, but it is only one part of the assistance system. Controller tuning, motor response, gearing and assist settings can make two bikes with the same sensor type feel different.
Cadence sensor
Detects pedal rotation and applies the assist level you have selected, regardless of how hard you push. Just spin and go. Best for riders who want the bike to do most of the work.
Torque sensor
Measures how hard you push. More effort = more assist. Feels like a strong tailwind. Found on most mid-range and premium eBikes.
Both sensors
The Cyrusher Roam and Himiway D5 2.0 offer both, so you can switch depending on the ride. Use torque mode for exercise, cadence mode when you want to cruise.
