Common questions

Is the Fiido E-Gravel road legal in the EU?

Yes. At 250W continuous, with assistance that stops at 25 km/h and only while you pedal, it meets the EU definition of a pedelec (EPAC) and is treated as a bicycle rather than a motor vehicle: no type approval, no registration, no licence and no insurance requirement. Individual countries still set their own rules on things like minimum age and helmets, so check the ones where you ride.

How far will the Fiido E-Gravel go on one charge?

The manufacturer claims up to 100 km. Treat that as a ceiling rather than a figure to plan around: claimed ranges come from the lowest assist level on flat ground with a light rider, and hills, cold weather, tyre pressure and rider weight all take a bite out of it.

How long does the Fiido E-Gravel take to charge?

About 3 hours from empty with the supplied charger.

How much does the Fiido E-Gravel weigh?

17.5 kg. That is light enough to carry up a flight of stairs or lift onto a car rack without much thought, which in practice decides how often a bike gets used.

Can the speed limiter on the Fiido E-Gravel be removed?

No — this model is locked at the standard assist limit with no setting to change it. In the EU, raising the limit takes the bike outside the pedelec rules: it becomes an S-pedelec or a moped, needing type approval, insurance and a licence, it is no longer allowed on cycle paths in most countries, and an insurer will treat it that way after an accident. We record the setting because it decides what a bike can legally be, not to suggest you change it.

Does the Fiido E-Gravel have a torque sensor?

Yes — a torque sensor, which scales assistance to how hard you push. It feels more like riding a bicycle than a throttle, and it is generally the more natural of the two systems.

What brakes does the Fiido E-Gravel have?

Tektro hydraulic disc 160mm. Hydraulic discs need less hand force and hold up better in the wet and on long descents than cable-operated ones.

How much weight can the Fiido E-Gravel carry?

120 kg, including the rider. Subtract your own weight to see what is left for luggage, a child seat or shopping.

Answers are generated from this bike’s recorded specification, so they change when the specification does. Range figures are the manufacturer’s claim — why claimed range and real range differ.

Ownership notes

Compare with a similar bike

One tap to put the Fiido E-Gravel head-to-head with a comparable eBike.

Protect your new bike

A good lock is the one thing worth sorting the day it arrives — it is what most insurers ask about, and it is what actually stops an opportunist.

Lock — FoldyLock Elite

A super-flexible folding lock — easy to wrap around an eBike frame and lock to almost anything. The mount doesn’t rattle, and the key slides in and out and locks smoothly (plenty of locks don’t — it saves a real headache). We run the matching pair ourselves — two locks, six identical keys, so both our eBikes open with the same key — genuinely convenient. ART 3 / Sold Secure Gold rated, the certification level many insurance policies ask for.

Insurance and registration

The two we use and recommend — Bikmo insurance and the Bike Register database — are UK-only, so we are not going to point you at them from here. Both exist in most countries under another name: ask your own insurer whether an eBike is covered on a home policy, and look for the national frame-number register where you live.

We genuinely use and rate these. Nothing in this section earns us anything.
