Is a mid-drive motor better than a hub motor?
It depends on the route and priorities. A mid-drive can use the gears efficiently on hills and often centres mass, while a hub motor can cost less and keeps motor force out of the chain and cassette.
Do mid-drive eBikes wear chains out faster?
They put more force through the drivetrain, so chains and cassettes wear a little quicker. Easing off as you change gear and keeping the chain clean makes a big difference to how long they last.
Which brands make good mid-drive motors?
